Pro-Life Policies for the Post-Roe Era

Published in the Wausau Pilot & Review on June 24, 2026

Our country was founded nearly 250 years ago, with a proclamation of inalienable rights to “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Life is declared first for a reason. If we do not value the gift of life above all else, how can we enjoy freedom or pursue the happiness for which God created us? For decades, the pro-life movement has embodied this spirit of America’s founding in its battle to affirm and protect the sanctity of all human life, and today we celebrate the fourth anniversary of our greatest victory: the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade

Commemorating this historic pro-life win provides an opportunity to discuss the current landscape for life in our country. While Dobbs was a monumental milestone, we are far from finished fighting to protect unborn babies. As a Christian, a mom, a proud pro-lifer, and congressional candidate, I see the battle continuing on two fronts: culture and politics.

In America’s post-Christian culture, I was blessed to become a Christian in college and learn to orient my life toward a relationship with the Creator described in Psalm 139:13, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” Then, I got to experience this scripture from the perspective of a mother, watching my son grow for nine months in my womb, and hearing his heartbeat at 8 weeks old.

As God’s beautiful creation, life should be valued inside and outside the womb. Unfortunately, this truth is not taught at liberal, secular universities – supposedly the “marketplaces of ideas.” Instead, the Christian faith is often attacked and the truth is made relative, especially when it demands sacrificial love. These attacks are on full display in our government too.

Congress echoes with Democrats’ tirades dehumanizing precious babies, portraying them as obstacles to progress; success; and happiness. With their agenda for taxpayer-funded abortion on demand, Democrats and the pro-abortion lobby have pushed the lie that abortion is a “choice” women need for “convenience.” Their words directly contradict the inherent dignity of every person and the GIFT that life is. Their justification? A child is only human once it's born. It may sound ridiculous, but it is no exaggeration. In Minnesota, abortion is barbarically legal in all nine months of pregnancy and right up until the point of birth. Democrats don’t care one bit about the mother or child in this “choice.”

In the name of “choice,” Senate and House Democrats in Washington also unanimously opposed a bill requiring life-saving medical care for babies born alive after an attempted abortion, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Act. This legislation would protect living, breathing abortion survivors and does not restrict access to abortion, but Democrats attack it with baseless claims that it violates the rights of women and doctors. Their opposition to legally protecting these newborns is downright inhumane.

While Dobbs shifted the fight for life to state legislatures and courts, much work remains at the federal level to restrict abortion, defund the abortion industry, and promote a culture that cares for both women and their babies.

If elected, I would support banning the abortion pill, Mifepristone, now estimated to be used in more than 60% of abortions nationwide. The dangerous abortion pill regimen not only snuffs out the life of the child, it causes serious complications including hemorrhaging, infection, and sepsis for one in 10 mothers – many of whom receive the pills by mail and take without a doctor’s supervision. There are also instances where women are unknowingly being slipped the drug by their boyfriend or husband. Mifepristone must be outlawed to save the lives of children and protect mothers.

Government funding for abortion providers subsidizes abortion procedures, and not a single penny of our hard-earned money should be spent to kill defenseless babies in the womb. In Congress, I would work to permanently defund PlannedParenthood by extending the One Big Beautiful Bill's one-year prohibition on Medicaid reimbursements and make PlannedParenthood ineligible for Title X family-planning grants. These two actions would end virtually all federal funding for Big Abortion and free up funding for more comprehensive alternatives like federally qualified health centers which do not provide abortions. For every PlannedParenthood in America, there are 25 of these centers offering primary care, prenatal services, maternity care, and other healthcare to patients in underserved areas regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.

I would also be remiss not to recognize the extraordinary work of pregnancy resource centers. These organizations provide compassionate support to women facing unexpected pregnancies by offering pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, parenting resources, baby supplies, and material assistance that empower women to choose life. There are at least 10 pregnancy resource centers serving Northern Wisconsin communities.

Four years after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, America’s 250th birthday provides a fitting occasion to recommit ourselves to the truth enshrined in our Declaration of Independence: all people are endowed by their Creator with the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Protecting life is more than a policy objective; it is a moral duty rooted in America's culture from the beginning.

Our laws should never permit the taking of innocent life, and our tax dollars should never subsidize abortion. If elected to Wisconsin’s 7th District I will passionately fight for every innocent child to have a chance at life with the same devotion and love that I have for my own son. Pro-lifers, I encourage you to continue using your voices to defend life, and I humbly ask for your vote in the August 11 primary.
